Featured a number of indoor summers decorating ideas. Now, here's a great way to take those same principles outdoors. This homeowner already had a great patio made of cobblestone papers and a simple white dining set. The lines are beautiful and the look is right, but we just wanted to give it a bit more life. We started by clearing out the furniture and just giving everything a nice clean sweep section. I love the look of an outdoor area rug, but I wanted something easy and inexpensive. I found these great Tammy mattes for only $ 4.99 in Chinatown.
I then layered three together to create an oversized rug. It kind of looks like a sisal mat to me to add a little ambiance to this dining table. I came up with an idea for a great light fixture. I started with this wire mesh from Home Hardware, it's a simple product and it comes in a roll. I made a cylinder out of the wire mesh and then attached it with additional wire. The next step was filling it with a ball outdoor string, lights and lighting it. I love the end result because it's sculptural during the day and will glow long into the night. We wanted to add a piece of art to add color and interest and just kind of break up the fence. Reiko found a thin piece of plywood and then used for exterior beauty, toned paints to create an abstract piece. I love the look and the unexpected graphics quality that it brings outdoors.
This actually going to look cute. I feel like the art and the thing has the same edginess we reorient the table centered on the art and under the light, the fixture for better access and nicer sight lines as a finishing touch. We painted inexpensive clay pots in the same beauty tone exterior paint colors. I like that they coordinate with the arc while adding a nice hit of color. We then filled the pots with these silvery blue plants to really tie into the rest of our color palette. It's good this summer. Decorating ideas are not only simple and fast to do, but they're also really inexpensive. More than anything, they add a really great decorative quality to an outdoor space that you can enjoy all summer long.
